Summary of Position:

The primary role of this position is to support the sales activities and provide design services to the dealership customers.  The Designer works closely with dealership sales, order entry and installation groups as well as customers to ensure accurate plans and specifications, conformance to client’s requirements, customer satisfaction and high- quality project implementation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with Sales team to create workspace solutions for clients.
  • Coordinates and implements the design process from the initial sales consultation through programming and design development, specification, client presentations and working drawings.
  • Serves as an expert in product knowledge and applications as applicable for their role.
  • Manages and maintains multiple design projects with varying size, scope, complexity, and duration.
  • Meets all committed deadlines and deliverables.
  • Clearly communicates verbally and visually design solutions and product applications.
  • Coordinates and implements architectural solutions.
  • Conduct Steelcase based Insights, Lens, and Discovery Exercises with customers
  • Understands how to create budget pricing utilizing discounting in CET
  • Prepares for and effectively participates in daily team meetings
  • Participates in pre-installation meetings with dealership install group and furniture installers
  • Prepares for and effectively participates in weekly project meetings
  • Participates and is able implement the design portion of the RFP process.
  • Leads the design conversation in customer tours.
  • Applies Steelcase Insights as applicable in the design development phase of a project.
  • Understands all aspects of CET as necessary for position.
  • Understands aspects of Hedberg as applicable for their role.
  • Has knowledge and is efficient with MS Office, Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook and other technology software as appropriate.
  • Understands and adheres to all design department processes and procedures.
  • Conducts site visits to verify space, inventory furniture, and observe installations.
  • Creates renderings and validations that clearly communicate workspace solutions to their clients.
  • Develops and presents color/finish boards and selections: gains customer approvals
  • Masters specifications of systems furniture, architectural solutions {if applicable) and ancillary commercial furniture.
  • Efficiently works through the design and specification with little re-work. Asks the right questions and does the right step at the right time.
  • Manages changes and revisions
  • Checks all their work before reviewing with sales and/or clients. Reviews drawings and specifications prior to specification check and orders.
  • Has strong know ledge of interior design field and current practices
  • Understands workplace environment issues (ergonomics, technology integration, teaming, alternative officing, etc.)
  • Has a working knowledge of the dealership’s contract furniture lines, including features/benefits, pricing, application and assembly, specification options and nomenclature, etc.
  • Has a working knowledge of applicable building codes, ADA regulations, National Electrical Code, etc.
  • Understands contract furniture processes, including order preparation, project management, order management and delivery/installation
